Information Assurance Advisor
We are welcoming applications for the role of Information Assurance Advisor with Devon & Cornwall Police based at the following location(s): Police Headquarters, Exeter, Police Headquarters, Winfrith, Dorset
Salary: Grade 4 - Starts at £26,106 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £28,653 per annum
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

The role of Information Assurance Advisor sits within the Alliance Information Management Department providing an exciting opportunity to work in a small specialist team which ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data held on Force systems as well as security of physical assets.
This role is required to undertake the first line of decision making in the determination of data breach / security incidents, utilising the Incident Management process and is responsible for the ensuring appropriate risk assessments, investigations and mitigating actions are undertaken to reduce ongoing operational and reputational risk to both organisations.
Further responsibilities include:
- providing bespoke advice as a subject matter expert regarding information assurance matters.
- embedding a security culture in the organisation.
- undertaking adhoc audits to test organisational compliance with information assurance policies or standards.
- providing analysis and feedback to the business, identifying trends in security breaches and recommending mitigating actions as required.
- Act as Crypto-Custodian for the Alliance, ensuring the efficient ordering, recording and issuing of cryptographic material.
Whilst Information Assurance experience would be an advantage, it is not mandatory as training will be provided.
Hybrid working will be considered in line with departmental expectations and once the individual is deemed competent. Therefore, applicants should expect to work from HQ Middlemoor for at least 6 months whilst being trained.

- Good attention to detail with a methodical approach
- Ability to manage tasks effectively by prioritising, delegating and working to deadlines
- Experience of providing specialist advice, knowledge and opinion, ideally within the field of information assurance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information to non-specialists.
- Demonstrable teamworking skills

Selection Stage:
The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.
