ViSOR Administrator

The post is responsible for maintaining an accurate, relevant and up to date intelligence database, which complies with Force criteria, the Data Protection Act 1998, the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), the National Intelligence Model, Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Codes of Practice Manual of Guidance in relation to the recording and dissemination of intelligence material and the Codes of Practice for Information Management. The post holder is responsible for the administration, operation and Integrity of ViSOR (Violent and Sexual Register Offenders Register).

Undertake risk assessments to comply with the Codes of Practice and the European Convention of Human rights (ECHR) policy. Certain tasks that are undertaken by intelligence staff must be subjected to risk assessment. The ethical, personal and operational risks must be considered before embarking upon a course of action that may be subject to the scrutiny of a court at a later stage. The above posts place a considerable responsibility and accountability on the Collector/ ViSOR Administrator.
Manage the integrity of ViSOR including the creation of records, ensuring all records are kept up to date and any inaccuracies are identified and addressed. Monitor ViSOR activity from outside forces in relation to Dorset Police nominals to ascertain if further intelligence development needs to take place and act as a point of co-ordination with the external force(s) establishing the necessity for joint action/activity in the pursuit of crime prevention/detection.
Fully research the main computer systems, ViSOR, local Criminal Justice System (Niche), Police National Database (PND) and the Police National Computer (PNC) in addition to outside sources and agencies to establish the provenance of the information.
Populate ViSOR nominal records across all fields, ensuring that current and comprehensive nominal information is graded, held and retained.
Dissemination of intelligence logs from both ViSOR and the force-wide system (Niche) to officers within the Force and to relevant outside agencies and other Forces ensuring compliance with legislation and Force Policy Guidance.
