The Police Service of Northern Ireland is seeking applications for promotion to the rank of Chief Inspector and applications are invited from police officers currently at Inspector level, with one year substantive at the rank, by 21st January 2022.
We are a unique Service with unique challenges and operate in a complex policing environment.
Chief Inspectors manage large teams of inspectors, sergeants, constables and police staff. They may be the most senior operational response officer or manager assigned specialist policing functions such as investigations. This role carries specific legal powers in line with Chief Inspector rank to enable the maintenance of law and order.
Chief Inspectors plan, manage and monitor operational policing activity. They effectively and efficiently set the plan for deployment of resources to incidents, including major and/or critical incidents. Chief Inspectors manage and mitigate risk effectively in order ensure the safety and wellbeing of officers, staff and the public and to respond effectively to problems, incidents and crime.
We are looking for people who are outstanding leaders to effectively deliver on the organisational purpose of Keeping People Safe by Policing with the Community, to win the trust and confidence of the people we serve.
At the Chief Inspector rank in the Police Service of Northern Ireland there are a diverse range of roles and disciplines including operational, detective, public order and counter terrorism.
In summary we are seeking people who are up for a significant challenge with a previous track record of managing risk, delivering change, challenging organisational culture and who possess a strong public service ethos.
