An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit two Facilities Assistants to join the Night Security Team at the Kent Police Training College based at Maidstone. 


Being part of a team of Facilities Assistants you will be responsible for a range of duties from basic caretaking to security to Front of House Reception.


Working a shift pattern rota system, you will be covering eight hour shifts on weekdays and twelve hour shifts at weekends, this will include overnight working.  These shifts are on a four-week rota.  The hours worked are part time hours averaging 32 hours per week on a full-time basis. You will recieve 10% shift allowance for working the shift pattern also. 


In this role you will be part of a team that provides a full range of facilities services therefore an example of this criteria is essential.  Your duties will include, basic caretaking and security patrol, front of house Reception duties including meeting and greeting guests staying on site, the allocation of room accommodation keys and the overseeing of Health & Safety procedures.  Within the college you will be organising meeting / classroom room ‘set ups’ for next days’ business, welcoming visitors for meetings, training and tutorials, checking ID for security purposes, answering emergency Countywide maintenance fault reporting calls and updating the Service Manager system; and if required the ‘calling out’ of contractors for emergency out of hours maintenance repairs for example – perimeter gates and barriers ceased working to unexpected water leaks and plumbing issues.


You must be self-motivated and evidence that you are able to work unsupervised at times.  You need to be flexible in your approach to the duties you carry out as they will be varied, no two shifts are the same. A high standard of Customer Service is expected with a proactive approach.


Evidence of team working is essential.


The post requires some lifting duties; therefore, you will need to ensure that you are fit and able to fulfil this expectation.


Basic IT skills are required for this post. Previous experience of using Microsoft products such as Word and e-mail would be an advantage. A diary management system is used to create, record, and update daily taskings.


Experience in a similar role, knowledge of and/or aptitude for a trade skill namely, carpentry, plumbing, or painting and decorating etc. would be desirable, as would an awareness or certificate of any Health and Safety qualifications.


Having the opportunity to complete basis housekeeping on a fleet of six pool cars, you will be required to move vehicles from the washing bay to the parking area therefore a full driving licence is essential.
