Hampshire Constabulary is looking for ethical, effective and accredited Detective Inspectors to join our Investigation teams.


We are a large force which has maintained a police family culture. We really value our staff and the professional development of our detectives within the PIP accreditation. We have a wide variety of opportunities within reactive and proactive crime teams, including specialism with public protection, major and serious organised crime. In addition we regularly have promotion opportunities for those wanting to be the leaders of the future.

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are excellent places to live and work. There is good access to London, the South Coast and the New Forest. Our main operating bases are Basingstoke, Southampton and Portsmouth. 


Please note that you must be employed by a Home Office Force, at least PIP 2 qualified and substantive in the rank of Inspector in order to apply.

Please note that you must either be employed by a Home Office Force in order to apply.  Successful applicants will have to pass a medical screening, vetting and a fitness test and be available to attend a 1 -2  week transferee course.  The length of course will dependant on your skills transfer.   We have courses scheduled throughout 2021 and 2022.

Job Purpose


To effectively manage, lead and motivate staff and make the most effective use of resources to investigate offences, service demand in both volume and serious crime investigations and provide clear leadership within their respective areas of the organisation.


To develop and maintain cross functions partnerships to achieve policing objectives.



Essential Qualifications


Competent Inspector with PIP2 qualification.



Essential Experience


Proven lead investigator on significant investigations.
