Practice Tutors – Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA)

Practice Tutors – Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) – North Yorkshire

As part of the Open University’s rapidly developing degree apprenticeship offer, we are seeking to appoint part-time Practice Tutors to support apprentices on the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), working with our partner North Yorkshire Police.

Practice Tutors play a vital role in enabling the apprentices to apply their academic learning in the workplace, and you will provide face-to-face and online learning support for a cohort of around 16 apprentices to progress through the whole of the three-year qualification.

You will visit the apprentices in their workplace, at North Yorkshire Police headquarters, to conduct regular progress reviews, as well as supporting them in building their portfolio of evidence against the professional competencies and to prepare for their End Point Assessment of the PCDA.

Practice Tutors will also teach the cohort of apprentices on the three 60 credit work-based learning modules on the PCDA, helping apprentices to engage with the online learning materials and mark their assignments on these modules.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the first cohort of apprentices, starting for a period of three years and to have a direct impact for individual learners, commencing with an induction event during the last week in June 2020 to be held at North Yorkshire Police headquarters.

Successful candidates will have relevant experience of working within the criminal justice sector (preferably with experience of working in policing within the last 5 years), a relevant degree level qualification (see person specification for requirements), together with experience of teaching and coaching in the workplace, experience of assessing work-based competencies and supporting learners to develop evidence portfolios.

Please note that all associate lecturers appointed to this module will be required to pass both a Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 Abbreviated (NPPV2 Abv)
