We are welcoming applications for the role of Trainer (Investigative Skills) with Dorset Police based at the following location(s): Police Headquarters, Exeter  

Salary: Scale F - Starts at £31,755 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £36,996 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same Scale.

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker -  Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.
Hours per week: this role is 18.5 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.

The salary for this part time role, 18.5 hours per week, starts at £15,877 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £18,498 per annum.

PURPOSE

To design and deliver training and development interventions in order to ensure that the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviour of police officers, staff and other members of the force meet the requirements of the force and priorities.

This post will focus on delivery of a range of force investigative skills training programmes across defined geographic areas, as well as specific bespoke training for groups of staff.  The posts is based at Police Headquarters, Exeter.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This posts main responsibilities will be to co-ordinate, prepare annual training schedules, design, develop and deliver training and development across a variety of packages. The focus of this role will be the delivery of Investigative Crime Training.

All training posts are generic in nature and therefore there may be a requirement to deliver training packages as a facilitator/lecturer to meet the demands of the force across other areas on occasion where appropriate.

Design and deliver training packages for on and off the job training. To include written materials, classroom sessions and learning exercises, utilising all available technology by adopting innovative and alternative methods of delivery where appropriate

Identify individual training needs of students, as well as the occupational and organisational training needs of the Force (training needs analysis).  Meet and discuss with line management and senior police and support staff management, the training needs of individuals, departments and divisions.  To accurately and fairly assess the skills and abilities of those undergoing training against relevant National Occupational Standards and Authorised Practice.

Annual Leave Entitlement:

Additional Information

Dual working: This role will require the post holder to travel to an alternative location on a regular basis to undertake the role. Journeys to the alternative location will be considered to be commuting journeys and so will need to be undertaken in own time at own expenses.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the essential criteria outlined within the job description. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 29 May 2024.
