Technical Evolution Officer

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Engineers to join Police Scotland’s Technical Support Unit and specifically within a significant Programme of Transformation. To that end, applications are invited from experienced Electronic & Electrical Engineers or Computer Scientists to perform this role.

Experience in two or more of the following is essential: CCTV, Audio, Video, Radio and IP Networks.

Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or technical discipline, with relevant post qualification experience, utilising audio, video, radio and network techniques.  In lieu of the aforementioned an extensive knowledge and experience of working within a related environment is essential.

The post holder will report to the Digital Technology Innovation Architect and progress the identification, design, testing and delivery of innovative, cost efficient technical surveillance and engineering solutions for overt and specialist covert policing. 

The role is pivotal in the successful delivery of appropriate technological solutions and  will take on challenging projects, often spanning more than one application and/or technology and be delivery focused.

There will be a requirement to analyse business requirements, direct the completion and evaluation of systems and assets and deliver new process and technologies cognisant of transition to business as usual support.

This full time post is temporary for 12 months and requires Management and SC Enhanced vetting clearance.  You will work 35 hours per week Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm.
