Keeping London safe is a complex task. But here at the Met, we work to protect our dynamic capital every single day. The threats we face are ever evolving, and terrorism has become one of our biggest priorities. Our Customer Service Centre is vital to the efficiency and success of the National Counter Terrorism headquarters. As our National Configuration and Cryptographic Manager, your expertise will play a positive role in our counter terrorism aims.

This role will report to the National Desktop and Field Manager and will directly support all teams within the National Customer Service Centre (CSC) as well as the wider NCTP community. The individual will be responsible for and control all Configuration items, Cryptographic devices and material, along with providing day-to-day Desktop Team Incident, Service Request and Problem management, for all supported devices and services within the portfolio, in line with National CT/DE priorities.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide exceptional governance and control over assets and cryptographic material relevant to the National Network, in accordance with the prevailing procedures and directives.

The department has a strong ITIL alignment and a proven track record in this area would be extremely advantageous. The post holder will therefore follow ITIL Incident, Service Request and Problem management best practice to provide effective and efficient national service support, whilst improving upon any existing processes, with the intent to further develop and mature the business’s requirements.

The post holder will be expected to line manage staff, deputising for the Desktop and Field Manager in times of his/her absence, reporting directly to the Service Operations Manager, whilst providing an escalation point for the whole of the National Desktop team.

The candidate will be expected to take the initiative with establishing good working practices and processes within this area and to bring experience of how best to go about the day to day management of staff, logistics and equipment.

To apply, please download the specific candidate information pack for this role, and click on the link to complete and submit the online application form with supporting CV.

Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm on 24th January 2019.

Vetting and STRAP

This post will require you to hold National Security Vetting (NSV) at either Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

The post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) before taking up the post. Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
