Base Manager - SETSU (SEROCU)

We have an exciting opportunity to lead and manage one of the South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU) bases. With a team of six operational technicians covering Hampshire within the  South East Region.  The role works in parallel with the other Base Managers, to ensure operational connectivity across the whole of the South East network.   

As the SETSU Base Manager, you will be expected to lead and manage the day to day operational workloads. Reporting to the Operational Manager, you will be expected to give daily briefs, highlight resource constraints and manage the base in relation to health and safety, staff workloads/development, well-being and security measures of the premises. The role also features an element of out of hour’s disruption, and hence, the candidate should be flexible to cope with the demands the post requires. 

Up to date experience of working in a technical environment is essential for this role, as is a qualification to at least HNC in one or more of the following areas:

  • Electronics
  • Electrical
  • Computer Design
  • Computer Programming
  • Internet Protocol Networking and Telecommunications

Proven management skills are necessary for this role, in order to oversee the service delivery and performance of a team of specialists.  Alongside this, the ability to deliver concise reports and presentations to a number of key stakeholders is key.

You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role. You will also be required to perform on-call arrangements for immediate response as required across the South East region.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC.  This post may be uplifted to DV in the future therefore you must have a willingness to undergo this when deemed appropriate.  Alongside this, there will be a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
