Salary: SO2 , £38,754 - £40,383 per annum

About the Role

 

The role holder will work to the Chief Officer Support Office Manager role profile with a focus on managing, leading and supervising a team of personal assistants (PAs) with responsibility for ensuring the team are operationally effective through their continued professional development. Occasional PA holiday cover will be required.

 

Working directly to the CC’s staff officer, and closely alongside the DCC’s staff officer, the role holder will also oversee the running of the office; the administration of the Chief Constable’s mailbox; the coordination, management and administration of key force level meetings; and lead and coordinate awards and recognition (including force funeral arrangements), Chief Officer Awards, retirement celebrations and higher honours.

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  1. To maintain & explore a modern approach developing efficient communication channels internally and externally to ensure a high-quality professional service.
  2. To lead and professionalise the support provided to COG with the focus on digital solutions and business processes. 
  3. To manage, lead and supervise the PA’s with the responsibility for ensuring the team are operationally effective through continued professional development.
  4. To report current workloads, priorities and ongoing projects, critical / potential service failings and solutions as appropriate to Chief Officer Group Staff Officer Inspector.
  5. Oversee the coordination, management and administration of key force level meetings (DCC to decide what meetings).
  6. Oversee contracts/projects at the discretion of the Chief Officer Group including producing the necessary documentation; giving authority to proceed for both locally and centrally funded works, maintaining records of same and associated expenditure.
  7. Lead and co-ordinate awards and recognition (including force funeral arrangements) Chief Officer Awards, retirement celebrations and higher honours.

Essential Qualifications Skills and Experience

 

 

  • Educated to QCF Level 4 OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.

 

  • Experience of leading a team within an office environment.

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of personnel.

 

  • A high level of computer skills with excellent working knowledge of computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office Applications & Outlook.
